Opera de Dijon

Malian diva Fatoumata Diawara and her musicians offer an exceptional concert at the Opéra de Dijon, combining the talent of the Dijon Bourgogne Orchestra with the sounds of the yakandi, a traditional rhythm from the Mandingue region.

Accompanied by her musicians and the Dijon Bourgogne Orchestra, Fatoumata Diawara will mainly perform pieces from her album Maliba. As an international ambassador of Malian culture, Fatoumata Diawara uses her music to advocate for cultural dialogue and peace, as well as for the recognition of Africa's cultural contribution to the world, particularly through the preservation of the Timbuktu manuscripts, threatened by the jihadist insurgency. Maliba embodies all of this: a testimony through which the singer highlights the rich traditions of West Africa, and a tribute to the culture and struggles of an entire people.
